I have an old 2GB WD hard drive (AC22100) I am going to use to just store a backup image of my PC, but when I try to format it, it seems to get hung up at about 20%. I've tried using Western Digital's Data Lifeguard tools & write zeros to it as well, but same problem. Any other suggestions on how to COMPLETELY format it or is it possibly have a bad portion to it? I always thought a hard drive either worked or it didn't. Maybe not.

if the diagnostic software can't do zeros on the drive than scrap it.
