Hey, I recently re-formatted an hp pavilion 7915 to windows xp professional. I am trying to make the display higher than 800 x 600, but whenever i do, it just flickers really weird. I tried taking a screenshot of it to show you what it does, but the screenshot came out perfectly. I have tried all drivers for it and all, and directx... still no luck. Could it be the monitor? I am using an old "SABRE" monitor... Thanks a lot.

I have updated to all the latest drivers for these:

    - BIOS
    - DirectX
    - Chipset

I noticed that on the monitor cable, some of the pins are missing on one end of it. Could this be it? I will try the monitor somewhere else right now...

did you get the driver updates from hp or intel. not all pins are used for vga as about 4 pins are not connected.

i tried using both hp and intel drivers. The monitor is a svga monitor. I have good news tho... I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to geiko. LOL JK. But the good news is that I tried my monitor on a different computer set at 1024x768, and it did the same thing. My dad said instead of buying a new cable for like $25, we might be able to get another monitor from his work for free.
