Ok I have a computer here with 512DDR RAM, and I have a somewhat pathetic stick of 64MB of RAM. My question is it safe for me to install it? My Computers limit is at least 3GB of RAM and I know there is another memory slot but as you may have guessed the 64MB is from an old computer, whereas this one is reasonably new. The reason for me doing this is cause XP is eating my RAM, 64MB of it to be exact. Can anyone help me out here?
Ok so do you know what type of ram that this 64MB stick? You need to make sure it is DDR ram. If it is the wrong type of ram you manage to force it into the slot you may be in a world of hurt. I am thinking that that may be SDRAM. There should be a tag on the chip to let you know what type it is. I would go here to see the exact type of ram that you have http://www.crucial.com/ . They have a neet scan that tells you what all about your hardware. Then you can either buy from the sight or go to some place like newegg or tiger direct or you local pc shop. Let me know if this helps you out.
