hi all, i really hope you can help me as i'm about ready to pull out every hair by the root. i've been trying like a mug to get .rm files to play in bsplayer, since realplayer doesn't support soft subs. previous advice was to download realalternative and k-lite codec pack to play the files with soft subs. first i downloaded realalternative and the files did play with subs in bsplayer, however, my cpu went through the roof, no way i could keep that up. so i uninstalled ffdshow and installed k-lite mega pack, which supposedly supported this type of situation(at least it seems to do so for others). however, on my system, bsplayer played the file sure, but only audio, no video, grrrrrrrrrrrrr. i tried to use mpc also from the k-lite, but i got an error message about vmr7/9 and something else i don't remember, anyway, subtitles refused to load. so now i just have my setup back to what it was originally, but that obviously leaves me at point zero. any of you have a good solution for me? one that preferably doesn't create absolute havoc on my compie? much obliged and anxiously awaiting, many thanks, seike
thanks for the response celtic_d, i did just try to get mplayer, only i noticed it isn't windowsbased per se and even though i saw some releases to launch mplayer, i'm no way near well versed enough in computers to know how to go about installing and reaching a usable format. if it wouldn't be too much to ask (source code and such terms make me shiver) could you give me a small step by step to make it easier for me? the many different options have me totally confused and i have no background to find my way through that jungle. your help is much appreciated. seike
Download windows binary for your CPU or one with runtime CPU detection enabled. Unpack. Drag and drop rm file onto mplayer.exe press "f" to make it fullscreen. You may get an error saying that it was unable to load a dll. This means that the file requires codec(s) from real, so just download the real codecs from the mplayer site and extract to mplayers codec dir.
thanks celtic_d, i'll try that soon as i get back from vacation. hope i won't have to bug you again. seike
