I am trying to rip a copy of a dvd using ripit4me which uses decyrpter and then shrink. There is an error during Decrypter and I got a copy of the log here:

    W 12:38:40 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB
    I 12:38:40 Initialising SPTI...

    I 12:41:33 Decrypting VTS_01_5.VOB... (LBA: 2161254 - 2685475) - KEY: CA 77 8D F3 EE

Now, an error window on some kind pops up asking to Abort, Retry or Cancel. Clearly there is an error so I hit Cancel and i try it from the begining again but it still didn't work.

Is there a setting on Decrypter that I am missing, or should I try a different software program?
Any help would be great, thanks.

You could try the free version of DVDFab Decrypter 4.0.1.6 beta and then Shrink.

Does DVDFab perform better than DVD Decrypter?

DvdD hasn't been updated in years.

DvdFab HD Decrypter is constantly updated to work around newer and tougher encryptions. In that aspect, yes it's a better ripper but DvdFab doesn't burn. That's where DvdShrink/ImgBurn combo come into play.

Talkhard, just got my Bourne Ultimatum (R1) today, backed up no probs with ripit4me 1.7.1.0(last version). You may have a dirty or bad disc.

keep in mind ripit is no longer updated. but it will still do many dvd's.
    dvdfab is great for freeware.
anydvd is great if you dont mind paying.
if i were you i would rip dvd to hard drive with dvdfab's lastest vs
if it does not rip its most likely a bad disc.

Ok, so i tried ripit4me 1.7.1.0 again and it said that the disc was either dirty or damaged. I cleaned it and it still said it.
I then downloaded and tried DvdFab decrypter 4.0.1.6 and it kinda said the same thing. It mentioned something about it using Pathfinder? Something it does when it encounters a dirty or damaged disc. So, same kinda response as ripit4me.
I am currently trying it again with DVDFab and I will keep you posted.
    thanks again

Ok, so the name of that thing that DVDFab does is called PathPlayer. I know this because it got to almost 50% done and the error window came up saying that DVDFab encountered a reading error which may be caused by copy protection and will employ Pathplayer to remedy this. It also said that it may take longer to open the disc and asks me if I would like to restart it using Pathplayer. I said Yes.

It now started and stopped saying there is a Reading Writing Error Control and asks me to choose either Retry, Abort, Ignore or Ignore All
What do I do? Is it the DVD itself?!?!?!

I agree with Born2Ride, there's no reason that DvdFab shouldn't be able to hammer this one out. You might want to do the things he metioned and you might want to try and rip/burn an old familiar title just to make sure everything is working properly.

ok thanks. I will try those things for sure.
I hope your right because there are few things as annoying as trying to get something done that you know should work.
    I will let you know.
BTW my DVD drive is, I dunno maybe 3 - 3 1/2 years old. But I know that I "flashed" it about 6 mos ago.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check for an update to the firmware for your burner then.
If you have ImgBurn just go to tools>drive>firmware update.

If you don't have ImgBurn then just go to manufacturer of your burner's website.

Ok, Dvd Decrypter managed to get thru a session on Movie Mode only. In total it came up with 6 VOB files. These are the steps I had to take to get it to burn:
First, while in Decrypter I skipped the stage where it asked me to remove protected cells and a couple of other options because I had tried it previously with those options selected and it came up with some error and stopped the whole process.
Second, I opened up Shrink thinking it could just open the files and burn them. When I tried, it came up with a Cannot find path error, even thou I was showing it where to look, whatever.
Third, I opened it with Nero (I use Nero 7 ultra) and it found the VOB files fine. Then I selected the first file and it asks if you want to perform a merging (I think) of the VOB files. If you select the first one only, it doesnt work. I then went back and highlighted all the VOB files and it asks the same thing. I said Yes. It will take a while, but it gets it done.
Then, the rest is just cosmetics, I choose to create a menu within Nero, but that doesn't matter. The main thing is that I got the movie files and I got them to burn too.
I posted this to try and help some other poor person who might be going thru the same stuff I did.
good luck and thank to everyone who helped me .

I just bought a new computer with WINDOWS VISTA HOME BASIC. I use RIPIT4ME, DVDECRYPTER, DVDSHRINK and NERO 8 ULTRA. They all work fine together. I burned a few DVD MOVIES and they came out fine. I download NERO 8 ULTRA from NERO.COM and got a the KEY from underground website. If you need any help. Email me, I will help you. My email address is: DuaneAdrian1965@Yahoo.com
