    Hiya there,
I am not sure where i should post this, but thought this might be a good start as any.
I have been trying to start the disc defragment on my windows xp home edition, but every time i do this i keep getting the message:-
Disc defragment has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on volume :(c:). Please run chkdsk. /f.
I have no idea what this is and how i can get the defragment going, as my disc space is going down.
I would be grateful if anyone can help me in either telling me the correct forum i need to post this into or to help me in here.
    Thanks Lynn

Reopened now the title has been fixed..

All you need to do is click on Start, select Run, then type in 'cmd'
A 'DOS' session will open, in there just type 'chkdsk /f' as per the error message, and chkdsk should just do it's thing for you..

You can run chkdsk without the '/f' if you want, it goes thru the motions without acting upon any problems it finds. You could then copy/paste the output here; copy/paste is accessed via the tiny "c:\" symbol in upper top left of the dos box..

..but there should be no reason to not action the '/f', it's obviously just wanting to fix a problem it's aware of.
