Hello All, I'm trying to unlock a Nokia 6020b which is currently locked. Model: Nokia 6020b IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Network: xxxx Country: xxxxxx Any help would be much much appreciated. Many Thanks, Pretty
Hey NoLimit04, Thanks A LOT! It worked the very first try. Great THANKS! The trick was, I had to put a sim card into the sim slot for the OK soft key to show up. I put in my friends currently subscribed Rogers sim, but I'm sure it would have worked with a non-active sim. This URL helped: http://unlocknokia.byyourcommand.net/viewtopic.php?t=7223 Also I would like to thank syabus who had this problem first, and figured it out. Now, that the phone if unlocked, how can I remove the subscriber name/logo from the screen? I thought unlocking it would free up those grayed out options in the phone menu. In the display menu the option: Operator Logo [ON/OFF] is currently grayed out and set to ON. I would love to remove the word Fido from the middle of my screen. It really makes your wallpaper look ugly, in this case, my GFs face. Thanks again NoLimit04, and AfterDawn. Pretty
Pretty, you will need the internet on your phone or borrow someone elses sim that does have internet and download a blank logo by going here: http://www.jhonny.org/wap/ As for the greyed out functions, you would have to take or send the phone to have it flashed with non branded firmware. I am glad you were able to get it unlocked and you're welcome!!
Hey NoLimit04, Thanks for the quick response. By operator logo, I am talking about the text name that says "Fido" on my wallpaper when it is not dialing or receiving a calling. I am not talking about the FI/DO logo, but the text instance "FIDO" that displays. I've noticed when I put in a Rogers sim, that the text changes to "ROGERS". Is it possible to remove this text name? (Or am I totally wrong, and that text name is really a graphic?) Thanks again, Pretty
Yes Pretty, I understand what you are wanting your phone not to show. When your phone is on with a Rogers sim, it shows Rogers and when it has a Fido sim, it shows Fido. You'll have to use your phone and internet on your phone and go to the address I provided you and download a blank logo and apply it. The logo Rogers and Fido should never show again if applied correctly. You must have a sim with internet capabilities wether it be yours or someone elses. If you have to borrow someone elses, let that person go to the address for you and download it. Once finished, they can take their sim back out and replace it with yours and it should be blank.
Hi NoLimit04, Still no luck. I have tried to download blank.nol before. The download works fine as my sim has GPRS access, and after the download comes thru, it even asks "would you like to replace operator logo", when I click yes, the phone reboots, and turns back on, but the "Fido" text is still there. Also there is a blank.jpg file now in my Graphics directory. I found this on another site: Not sure if it is true or not. Could this be why I cannot get rid of the "Fido" text? "It could be your carrier which doesnt support it.. IE: MVNO's such as FIDO/Sprint/Primus/7-11 Speak Out, dont have a home network, so they are roaming, so they may not support Operator logos because operator logos generally require your carrier to have a home network with the same MCC/MNC programmed into its SIM cards (ie: NOT Roaming)." (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=783363) Anyways, if you have any other ideas, I would love to try them. Thanks, Pretty
Pretty, I'm going to transfer this link over to (NOKIAS) because he is much better at it than I am. I try to stick with unlocking only but he has a better head for this type of thing. I'm not sure when his response will be but it's possible he will reply tonight or for sure tomorrow. I'll take this link to my site and place it in a thread that only me and him can see and when he comes on, he'll give you what he thinks it might be. That's the best I can do for you and if I could take it off for you, I would. Sorry I couldn't help you any further. NL04
Hello Pretty, That is correct about roaming. If you are roaming the op-logo will appear even if you downloaded a blank logo. The blank logo doesn't work for all Nokias. The 64k sims save the blank logo on the sim, where as the old 32k sims didn't save the logo, rather the phone did. Hope that clears things up some.
Hey NoLimit04 and NOKIAS, Thanks so much for trying. I guess it cannot be done (in any easy way). I will keep reading and see if something surfaces. The funny thing is, there is an option to turn the operator logo on or off. Except that my firmware disables and grayes out that feature. Anyway no bid geal. And sorry andychen, I have not tried to upgrade the software on my phone yet. Although that may be my next mission. You should start your own thread, and others can help you. Thanks all, Pretty
