Hey! I'm new to all this stuff, so bare with me! I wanted to put a DVD into Windows Movie maker, so I put a DVD onto my hard drive, but I can't play it. I have all the files mentioned above, but my computer says it hasn't got the software to read...or support...the formats (VOB, IFO etc). What do I do? What software do I need to read these files?

also, have a check of the guides section regarding burning with a dvd burner, or encoding to vcd/svcd if youve only got cdrw drive, if you want to watch on your standalone

rip the DVD? Oh gosh! Uh, I copied it to my hard drive. I don't know if that is ripping it. I got PowerDVD, and played the clips in that, but it was only sound. To put the clips into moviemaker they have to be WMV (or something), so I'm downloading a program that'll convert it. Has anyone actually put a movie from a dvd into moviemaker?
