managed to get an xbox 360 off a friend but it has no drive in it. is there anybody out there that is able to read the drive key from the tsop flash if i post it to them in the UK. also what would the costs be??? thanks.
sorry not sure, i have the motherboard, that works fine. plays movies only when i put a drive in. (because there is no drive key on it) what chip is it that is on the motherboard? TSOP or NAND? anyway what ever one it is. can some one read it for me?
What version dashboard is the console on, if its in the 8xxx or 9xxx region, you wont be able to get the key from the nand.
the dashboard has been updated so i know that i cant use the JTAG method. but was under the assumption that the nand could be read in an external reader/programmer?
I guessing you want to read the NAND, install XBR with Xell, boot Xell and get the key from lines 3 & 5 (or 4 & 6). The two lines together give you the key.
If it has been updated, the CPU fuses are blown and the console is essentially locked down. The only way you can recover the DVDkey is to read the firmware off of the original drive.
I agree with what others have already stated. You can dump the nand. But for what you want to do that would be useless. Having the updated dash will deem a jtag ineffective. And without a jtag, you won't be able to retrieve the cpu key. And without the cpu key, you can not retrieve the dvd drive key.
oh, looks like i have a dead xbox then, i was under the impression that you could desolder the nand and read it in an external reader? thanks for your help so far though
Reading the nand is not the problem, you can do that via LTP or USB withoput removing it from the xbox montherboard, the problem will be decypting the NAND to get the DVD key, this cannot be done without the CPU key which you cannot get without JTAGGing. Basically, your screwed
