Hello, just recently I got something on my computer which I think is malware and I have NO clue how to get rid of it. I've seen a few people with the same problem and they had someone assist them from this site. I was wondering if maybe someone could help me. So here's my problem... Every time I start up my computer everything goes fine until I CLOSE a program or any open/running window. After I close something, a message pops up with the title "Windows Script Host", and it says "Can not find script file "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\.tt2.tmp.vbs". The only option I have is to click the OK button... and when I do that, everything goes normal for a little while, but then if I leave my system alone for too long it goes into like.... a fake-ish loop of restarting and giving me a blue screen that says stuff like "Uninstall any new hardware/software and BIOS settings" and all kinds of stuff like that/ I usually get out of that by just pressing CTRL ALT DEL....then it goes back to my desktop... which by the way the wallpaper was changed to some msg that says "WARNING! Spyware Detected On Your Computer! Install an Antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer!" Now.... the first time this happened to me I was just browsin the web and everything froze up... then it changed my background to that previous msg... and began to install some "Antivirus something...2008" I deleted that right away and shut off my system as quick as I could... but the damage was already done. Now my computer just keeps getting caught up in these fake screensaver things that delete my wallpaper and just cause my system to be a piece of crap lol. It also made it so that I cant really update my Spyware Doctor.... AVG still updates ok... but AVG never really worked for me anyway.. SOOOOO... to deal with this problem, what should I do? Should I run a HiJackThis and post the log? Thanks in Advance.
Hey again... I figured I would just go ahead and post my HiJackThis log after seeing that everyone just posted it initially..... sooo here it is. Hi Kyle1770, A little bad news – Since my first post, I have gone over your Log deeper and one or more of the identified infections is a backdoor Trojan. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation. Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of its backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information: How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so. Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post. Thanks, 2OG
