Have Vizio 47inch lcd. want to hook up computer to tv. have everything planned out except how do i get sound to reciever and/or tv. does the monitor cable carry sound?
Your monitor cable (dvi, hdmi, vga) will not carry sound. You will need fiber optic (spdif), digital coax (orange), or RCA cables (red/white jacks). Go with fiber optic if possible, it is phenomenally better than RCA. I purchased a sound card that had fiber optic out just for that reason. Hopefully your receiver has it as well.
