!!IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT AN EEPROM IS OR DOES, DO NOT TRY THIS!! I found a way to get your drive locked, only if Xboxhdm's auto eeprom.bin lock didn't work, I don't recommend this unless YOU ABSOLUTELY can't get your dive to lock, the reason why is because one, and I mean ONE wrong letter or number and you now have a nice paper weight, I tried everything from letting Xboxhdm do it, to manually entering it, with NO luck, I tried something else a little diffrent. This should be easy for people that know how to use Xboxhdm if not no big deal, just be very carefull, just make sure there are NO OTHER HDD in your PC, make sure the one you want to lock is the Primary Master, and make sure the jumper on the BACK of the HDD is set to Master only, (Not Master/w Slave, Just Master or Single), now that were ready lets begin. Get a floopy make sure it works, then format it using windows, then start XBOXHD (If you don't know how to do this see this tutorial - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/203286 ) at the main menu choose option one, then type "Yes" when your at the next menu with 8 options, choose option 6, this will retrieve your HDD PASSWORD, !!!!WARNING BE VERY CAREFUL FROM THIS POINT ON!!!! when this comes up, write down everything HDD PASSWORD, HDD KEY, ect.. MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE IT'S CORRECT, EVERY LAST LITTLE NUMBER AND LETTER. After you're finished writing down the password, go back to the menu with 8 options, choose option 7, put in the floppy disk and press enter, wait till this done, (Took mine quite awhile)take out the floopy disk, reboot your computer, after Xboxhdm has started, insert the floopy your just made, and this time instead of choosing option 1 choose option 4 to boot DOS with HDD locking/unlocking tools. !!!!WARNING EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!! It will bring up a DOS drive that looks somthing like this: A:\ at this point type: HDLOCK.BAT it should look just like this: A:\HDLOCK.BAT Then press enter, it will give you a warning, press the spacebar then choose your HDD (Should be option 1), then it will ask for your HDD password, (THIS IS THE PART WHERE YOU WILL HAVE A NICE NEW XBOX HDD OR A NICE NEW PAPER WEIGHT, BE VERY VERY CAREFUL, I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH, JUST MAKE SURE YOUR ETER THE HDD PASSWORD JUST LIKE IT WAS PRESENTED! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.) Carefuly enter in your HDD password and press enter it will then say "HDD lock with given password" That's it, your new HDD Should be locked to your Xbox, just turn off your computer, unplug it, remove HDD, make sure your Xbox is off and unplugged, remove old HDD and insert new one, now you have yourself a a bigger HDD.
With the usual caution about the warnings in the xboxhdm readme about how buggy hdlock and hdunlock are. Make sure before you start that you visit the drive manufacturers site and look carefully for unlocking tools... most manufacturers have low level tools available which will unbrick a locked hdd.. you lose all the data but it does at least reset the drive back to a clean factory state.. Most people have problems because they don't read carefully how to use these tools or the hardware doesn't support locking hdd's.. Older motherboards from p2/3 series machines don't seem to have any problems.... but p4?.. about 30% will not lock a hdd no matter what you do.. UNLESS it is locked to the mobo eeprom Just because you boot some software doesn't mean the hardware actually supports what you are doing.. the more modern the pc the more likely it is you will have problems. Does that clear up some confusion? Also some drives can't be locked.. avoid fujitsu and some hitachi's.
Basically what was going on, when I would try to lock the drive it said security enabled disable first, when I unlocked it it says it's not locked but would remove the security lock, so to get around the security lock I used the DOS tools, and it worked like a charm, even though the website said my HDD couldn't be locked.
