Nice job wabashman! After hearing ya in #afterdawn360, you must be happy that it's all done!

If I had money I wouldn't mind getting the 250GB installed. Though the 120GB will have to do for now!

Just a quick question - the link your provided on Amazon for the cheap drive is a BEVT series. Is that compatible with the latest flasher? I've been hearing it's hit or miss with these drives whereas the BEVS are more reliable. Correct me if I am mistaken as I am completely knew to learning about how to do this.

the drive i actually used was a bekt one from tigerdirect.com another guy on here got his from newegg and it was bjkt i believe. so this one should work. also the bevs series are limited to 120 gig i believe, so i actually need to edit that part of my guide.

Hey i'm trying this with a 60 gig hard drive, just to get my files off, but when I go into explorer it only sees Partiton 2 that has files. It only has 156 megs worth of files too which is not right. Partition 3 has nothing which is weird cause I have this drive almost completely filled. Anyone know why, It seems like I am doing this correctly.

Would a wd32000bevt work? I know its 320gb and if it works I could only use 250gb?

Edit: Found the answer out right after I posted this....Yes it will

Thinking of doing this for my son's Xbox.
Could you use something like DiskImage XML to just create an image of the 20 gig and transfer it to the new drive? This works great for backing up or migrating C boot drives and all their files to a larger drive.

    Thanks

Thanks for the tutorial.. i'm having a bit of an issue.

i bought a transfer cable *that uses a PC, so it's not M$*.

anyways, i plugged it into the laptop, put the CD in and fired up the application "Xport 360", i was able to take backup from my 20GB HDD (after couple of tries!!!), i opened the backup file and extracted the Content folder (which has all the profiles, saves, demos, etc). i plugged in my 120GB, tried to restore that bit (using drag and drop), but it just keeps running on the screen for hours and then there is nothing got copied over!

i've tried it couple of times, and nothing.. then i tried to copy one folder at a time, but only worked for couple of folders, so i thought maybe the backed up copy was corrupted the first place, so i'll just do the whole process again...

after completing the back of the 20GB again, in shock, i couldn't open the Content folder on the 120GB using Xport 360..! whenever i click on the Content folder, the application just closes.. i got Xplorer360 Extreme along with it, i can open the Content folder, but i can't do anything with it! can't add to it, can't delete what's in it.. :(

i put the HDD back on the xbox and tried to format it from there, but it won't work!

and now i'm stuck and dunno what's next to do.. :(

    anyone care to help?

    Thanks
