i got my verbs and luck had it...MADE IN SINGAPORE! i was able to burn seven out of the ten discs which was a lot better than the two out of nine memorex...still losing three discs is slightly disapointing considering that they are verbatim...i believe the three lost were the result of bad backup images...

What speed is the 1.41 firmware? If you use a lower speed, the drive will read better. Also, when's the last time you updated the firmware for your burner?

I checked my Rainbow six Vegas 2 iso and it was completely perfect with XDVDMulleter(I did CRC check, is this enough? or should i use autofix?). Now I have burned it.. Should I check it another time? Because now it's on dvd(burned with clonecd with 2,4x speed) so it costs very long to check if the game is good, because DVD's aren't that fast as a hard disk.

this means your media is crap and wont work, even if the memorex works after a little while (few scratches) the 360 will stop reading it...just wait for your verbs to come and use the memorex as data discs:p
depending on your burner you may get a lower success rate on 1x because the burner may not be able to handle a low burn speed on DL media, burning speeds fluctuate from there original set point, burn at 2x (2.4x) with verbatim and you'll be fine:)

tripplite- Thanks for all the helpful info you have provided in your posts. I am a 360 noob with a used xbox elite (just purchased yesterday) and would like to ask a few prerequisite type questions...
    xbox 360 elite questions...
    1. is it possible to find out the brand and model dvd drive in my xbox without opening it?
    2. is it possible to play backups without using ixtreme? Can backups be played with just a manufacture update?
    3. How do you load original or backup games to the xbox's hard drive?
    other questions...
    1. On the dvd region tab under a burner's device properties page it says changes remaining: 5 and current region: not selected. Am I suppose to select a region or can this be left alone?
    2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817130008 are these the right verbatimz? Are there any better deals than the link's?
    3. Can Lite-on burners be used to make backups or is there a prefered brand model etc?
    my burner specs...
lite-on lh-20a1l updated with the most recent firmware update (03/2008)

Ok thats all for now and ty again tripplitez <3

I'm very very sorry if this was asked before. I checked the thread but I couldn't see it anywhere. So my question is this: How can you copy an already copied Xbox 360 game. It is an already copied Verbatim DVD + R DL of Turok. What I want to do is basically create and ISO of that disk using CloneCD and copy that ISO as is to another Verbatim DVD + R DL disk. Will it work?

I think I might have missed something... since when have we been able to load and play our backups from the hdd?

    Because we can't.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for all the replies from my earlier questions! I managed to burn 2 successful games (and not wasted any more discs which is nice!)

The only problem im faced with now is that when I start burning with ImgBurn, i get an error 'Optimum Power Calibration Failed'

I updated my firmware on my DVD drive, that fixed the error for 1 more burn, which worked successfully!

But again i'm getting the 'Optimum Power Calibration Failed' error and I can't burn anything. I've turned off the power calibration check in the options but then the discs fail after burning for a few seconds!

Sorry to be a pain, and thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    :)

thats an issue to do with your media/drive/firmware combination, sry try using the older version of imgburn as it didn't even issue that command;)

Right. That's what I meant when I said we can't. That person was asking about loading games to their 360 hard drive, obviously to play from the hdd. I think you misread what they asked, that's all.

I know we're all eagerly awaiting that day when we can, though.

Also, that person was asking about which drive was in an Elite. You posted a pretty old pic. Elites don't have Samsung drives. Only Hitachi and Benq. Here's a better pic.

Alright, I've set the layer break.

But I've heard you have to load the DVD file, not the iso.

But my iso is around 7 gb and my DVD file is only a few kb, so what should I be doing?

My xbox 360 is a Hitachi LG and my burner is also an LG, is this a problem?

NOPE not a problem:) you can either burn the iso or the .dvd file, the .dvd file is an image file which means it just gives the burner instructions on how-to burn the iso, basically the same thing:)

This was actually going to be my question, but I'm glad someone else asked it.

What I'd like to know now is why you prefer Clone CD to Imgburn? Through my various years of lurking it seems that most preferred Imgburn. Is this only preference or is there a practical reason for it?

Also, I don't have a kreon drive for rips and I'm not keen on plunking down the $60 for one. I'd like to do the hotswap raw-dump method but what kind of mess would I be looking at? Other than finding SS files to merge (where can those files even be found at? no one seems to know) what else would I need to do? and is the only reason people don't like to do the hotswap raw-dump because of the hassle involved with taking a drive apart etc. etc.?
