No, again, I repeat firmware has NOTHING to do w/ region compatibility. Region is handled by the kernel. So, until the core security of the 360 is broken it will not be possible to play games w/ regional encoding other than your 360's intended region.

Sorry I don't believe you, but that's the truth.

Greetings, I have 2 questions and a comment.
I have ss merger from xboxscene (XBOX360 SS Merger 1.7b) but it will not open I get this error-
    .net framework initialization Error:
to run this application you first must install one of the following versions of the .net Framework: v2.0.50727

my second question may save me a few coasters and/or a burner purchase. I have a dual layer burner: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B GA04 it is the burner that came with my Gateway GT5012 media PC says it can burn all DVD +/- RW DL anyone know if this will work?

I thank you for the tutorial but wish it had a few updates written in it to help, like what the files look like after ss merge and which file to click on for clone CD I read ahead to find the info on the thread though.
"after patching you should have two files. One is really Small (the file your referring too) which just tells CloneCD the attributes for the actual iso your burning, which is prob about 7+ gigs. It should be named the same thing as the small file with a different extension. probably .000, I've even seen .001 in some instances. Open the small file with CloneCD and set your burner to 2x if you dont want skipage."

as long as it can burn DVD+r DL it should work.. to find out burn a game and cross your fingers. :) if it doesn't.. just check out tigerdirect or newegg and order a pioneer 111d for cheapy. they work really well. and for the ss merger error.. go to microsoft.com and download .netframework v2.0.. its required for ss merger to work.

the game files after extraction should have an .iso or a .000 or .001 or .360 or something along those lines.. it should be about 7 gigs.. some may be around 4 depending on the game. if its alone chances are it may need to be patched.. if it has a 1kb .dvd file.. open clonecd and click write to image.. burn the .dvd file but make sure the .dvd file.. and the .iso youre trying to make a game of.. are in the same folder, so clonecd will be able to find it. it'll burn the entire game, no worries.

It's bullshit man. Like I said firmware has NOTHING to do w/ region compatibility. Region is handled by the kernel. So, until the core security of the 360 is broken it will not be possible to play games w/ regional encoding other than your 360's intended region (read imports).

All this chip supposedly is is a firmware chip, regardless of what that website says. It will not allow you to run imports and defintely NOT HOMEBREW.

If you preordered one demand your $100 bucks back man :(

Hello, im new to the forum and i just purchased the xbox 360 and I was very interested in the firmware flashing. But the problem is that I am only ok with the computer and the whole process of flashing the firmware is intimidating and beyond anything I could handle. I was wondering if there is anybody here, from Toronto Canada, or know someone who can preform the firmware flash for me. I will pya the person as well, please let me know if there is anyone who can help me. Thanks

I am a total noob, so bare with me….. I have a Globe 360 chip installed in my 360 and
I started backing my 360 games up last night but I ran into a roadblock. I extracted the ISO file using the hot swap method (wxripper) and when I tried to load my ISO file that I created into SS Merger v1.6 I received an error. The error says 'Database connection error'. “Helldoc” is the creator of SS Merger says someone hacked in and deleted all of the required MD5 codes. Here is the link where he says this

    http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=570279&pid=3808914&st=0&#entry3808914

Does anyone have a solution to this problem I have run into? Im not sure how to backup my games without having the “required MD5 file”

    Please help

This isnt exactly answering your question
    But ...

Why dont you just buy a SAMSUNG SH-D162c dvd drive for your pc
Flash the DVD Drive with Kreons Firmware v0.81
Extract the game and its security sectors with SCHTROM360XTRACT V3.1
And burn the ISO using Clonecd

Seems alot easier then taking your xbox apart all the time

Hello, this is my first post on these forums and im here looking for help cause I've been trying to burn this prepatched image since yesterday and I just cant!

I have a .dvd file and a .000 file and I try to burn using CloneCD on a Verbatim DVD+R DL, but I've been getting an Overburn Request message ever since my first try! It reads like this:
Image doesnt fit on destination Disc
    Space available: 7222 Mbyte
    Space required 4482 Mbyte

it gives me options to Try to overburn or Write Until theend of the media is reached.

im using a SH-W162C burner and I've never burned a DL disc...ever, so please help me out! I dont know what to do :(

    Thanks for your time

Yes, Im pretty sure. Im sitting in front of the DVD case and it reads "DVD+R DL".

What I was thinking of is that CloneCD only gives me one profile to choose which is DVD. It wont let me edit it or create a new one and I dont know why :(

click write until the end of media is reached. if youre positive your drive is DL then it should work.. if not, youre only up 1 coaster. ;P
