I'm not sure if this the right place for this thread, please forgive me if it is wrong. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any devices out there that allow you to to transfer video to that device and then play them back on a tv. TY
HI, Yes there are a few devices, besides obviously building a HTPC machine. There are lots of boxes from D-Link, Linksys, Hauppaue etc such as http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=318 and http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_mediamvp.html for example. They connect to your network and stream your media to your TV. Hope this is what you meant and hope it helps.
I was thinking of something with a hard drive, but i didn't even think of doing it through the network. It looks like it could a good option too. Thanks for your help.
Ah, I know what you mean, something like this http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?C=Newsletter&U=06P9-2_Comp&ModuleNo=97124&T=12210067 That one doesn't have a HDD inside but you can get them eith and add any you wish to that particular item. Hope it helps.
IMO: This is the only way to go. I own two of them and I am fixing to buy another- http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/
DMW> Your right, but I try to look at everything in a mathematical way. What I mean is this: by the time you bought a hard drive and a Tvix box, you've spent about $500 bucks. At DVD prices, (close guess) $25 ea. So, $500 /$25 = 20. That means when I get 20 movies on it, I have broke even. lol....I use that logic to buy ALL my overpriced electronics.
@ugc lol, nice logic dude. I used similar logic to buy my projector and screen...problem was, they were both cheap and not really great quality, but a hell of a lot bigger than my telly and I wanted them lol
I bought myself a Channel + multinedia center and put a 80 gig Seagate Barracuda hard drive. Windows can detect the hard drive but cannot complete formating it. Any suggestions. Someone to said try FDISK but i cant work out how to get into it.
Centre is similar to this. http://www.woxter.com/contenido/productos2.php?idcategoria=22&id=207 same product diferent name.
I got the hard drive sorted out. This time i split it into two partitions and it gave me the option format it into fat32 file system and it woked. ( before i only had the option of nfts)There is a bad sector somewhere on the drive but i think it might be on the unallocated partition. The device is working great both on the pc and telly.
