TV Guide Onscreen (Guide+) Just Updated for Panasonic!

I just hit the Guide Button on my Panasonic DMR-E85HS and a bright full-screen message popped up saying that TV Guide Onscreen Just updated my firmware and I needed to wait for any recordings to end and then power down and unplug the machne for 10 seconds.

This must be the long-awaited freeze/green screen/U99 fix. Panasonic released their patch for this a few weeks ago--but said the problem wouldn't be done until Guide+ fixed their end. Looks like they have.

The message referenced a website:

...that says the update isn't mandatory, and that it won't effect any saved programs or settings--but I think I'll wait to reboot until I *do* get a problem (or until I hear from a braver soul who has done this sucessfully and still has their custom channe settings and scheduled programming).

Oddly enough, I had just turned on my DMR-95HS, and it was locked up tighter than a drum. It came on tuned to a channel that was palying fine--but refused to respond to the remote or front panel buttons. It took a ten-second "Off" button to get it to power down. After that, it came back up with programs and settings in tact--but no messages. Also, on the DMR-E85HS, once I clicked the message away, it competely disappeared--no copy in "Messages."
