I Have had his problem with FX5200 and my current card(X800PRO). I connect my PC to TV via S-Video. Everything works(looks blurry and screen isnt stretched out all the way...but still works) and when I play a movie, my computer totally locks up after about 20 or so minutes and I gotta restart...same thing everytime I try it. ATI's customer support sent me links on how to reformat my hard drive or something so that didn't help very much. Anybody else ever had a similar problem? Anybody know how to fix this annoying problem? Gracias!
do you by any chance get a green screen when experiencing these lockups [bold]can a mod drop this in the other hardware thread as its clearly misplaced[/bold]
Oh yeah my bad boys I was surfing around the Safety Valve late at night and I thought I posted this in the PC Hardware forum...my bad. Teleport this thread to the Hardware forum Por Favor!
since this thread teleportation is taking a little longer than usual (which is strange becasue threads get closed quick enough ;P) we might aswell carry on with your problem. what happens when the comp locks up does the screen go green?
No it does not go green. The image freezes and the sound locks up as well and then I must restart. Thanks SypherTek
im taking it that you have tried all the driver updates for your cards do you only get the problem when trying to watch through the tv or does it happen when your only using your monitor aswell. have you noticed that the crash is specific to a certain type of movie file i.e avis or mpegs or is it just everything you could be using the wrong region for your TV check the TV output setting to make sure it is using the correct tv format (PAL - NTSC)
Yes all drivers good. Only happens on TV, never on monitor. it happened While I watched .avi...but it also crashes when I play games as well...
Well I live here in the US and I guess the TV is using NTSC like its supposed to because I never changed any of that around.
Are there are any particluar settings or anything like that that I have to change in the control panel under display or something like that?
well i know that for nvidia you go to the nvidia control panel (right click desktop > properties > settings > advanced) and then you go to nview display settings and there should be a pic of your monitor and of your tv. right click on the tv to change its settings i dont know how to go about it with ati
thread teleported to relevant forum. i had a night off. @SypherTek - still moaning about thread closures i see.
@ creaky the only reason i mentioned the thread closures once more is because i noticed that even though this thread was in the wrong place there had been several threads closed after id requested it be teleported to here.
@SypherTek - i've retracted the jerk part, i guess that was a tad strong. i guess i was expecting extended moans about thread closures, i do deal with a lot of posters each day and these days all i seem to see are posters moaning about thread closures/rules so i do get hacked off with it. so i will no longer hijack the thread and let's let the tv-out discussions continue
