Just after a bit of advice if anyone could help.

I am just about to buy a surround sound system and i was wondering is it easy to link both the tv and the xbox 360 to it.

i use the HDMI cable for the xbox to the tv and i think the surround sound will link via optical digital lead or hdmi.

now what my problem is how do i get the xbox to the surround sound if the optical lead is used on the surround sound to the tv

sorry in advance if i sound really thick

if the surround sustem has 2 optical ports then yes it will work other wise you will have to swap the optical cable depending on what you want to watch. i dont have the elite version of the xbox but i think it has a extra bit on it for optical on the hdmi bit. i too wanted the same thing but my dvd/surround wasn't true surround and had no optical ports, so i bought an AV receiver which is brilliant!! you plug the speakers into it and then simply put the optical cables into it, so 1 optical from sky box/tv and the other from the xbox. i would def recomend the AV reciever.

you could always purchase an av receiver that accepts hdmi cables and allow the amp to send the signal to the tv,
