Hey everyone I just bought a new tv tuner card from tigerdirect, but the reviews said the software it comes with is total garbage. So i was hoping you guys could suggest some better software, so i have it before my card arrives.

    Thanks in advance.

here's the link to the card

Software for TV Tuners is typically proprietary to the card.

I think you're SOL on this one. However, "the reviews" are usually subjective so you may not think it's garbage.

BTW, Newegg had the Sabrent card for $14.99 last week. I looked at it but decided on the K-World for $19.99.

o well, thanks for the tip. Hopefully I'll be more impressed than the other reviewers. I only bought this one because it was cheap and I got free shipping with the rest of my order.

I don't know if this tuner card will be compatible, but I use a program from SnapStream called Beyond TV. You can download a trial from their website and test it with your tuner card.

If you use Linux, you can try a program called MythTV (it may not work with this tuner card).

There are some projects in the works to port MythTV to Windows. If you have a lot of free time you can follow the steps on the following site as a means of running MythTV within Windows via a virtual machine.
