Any major problem with DVD burner Master and another older burner as slave on same IDE channel? No plans to burn both at same time but would use one as a DVD burner exclusively and the other as a DVD reader and CD burner.
Already have IDE 80 pin cable. Question really is whether I can put a spare DVD ROM/ CD writer or 2nd DVD burner as a slave on the same IDE channel as my primary DVD burner (master). Will there be a conflict?
I have 4 newer Dell's with 2 burners on the same IDE channel in each both set to cable select. If it's other than Dell brand computer than it is more than likely set up for master slave.you should be fine with that setup.
My three computers each have two burners ... ALL burners share the same 80 pin IDE cable and ALL are set to 'master' ... and ALL work like champs BenQ DW1640 Plextor PX712a LiteOn SOHW1633s NEC ND3500a HP 740b Ricoh MP5240a
