can anyone help here. i am running win7 ultimate and when i try to open txt files i have downloaded eg: mobile(cell phone) or utility bills or anything really they always show like the example below. ÓÍñýS”¹¨(1ÌÚ*€¦´ŽáŒ;]–ûw°[¥r¡ÒŸ àS°zÄñR²ÖǼ«¢2°`×.'Z),=<v`ÙD<¡Œôh=ª·®z‘¹{Ûõ any help appreciated.
and update... if i open the file with adobe reader i can read it ok, its the win7 office and wordpad that shows it as encrypted, so i presume i need to get into the settings somehow.
what is the file extension (you know.. that bit microcrap thinks is so completely unimportant they hide it from view).. the bit after the . ?? for example dogsbollocks.txt will be a text file whereas dogsbollocks.pdf will be an adobe format document more like a jpeg picture.. it's important to know what type of file you are dealing with. I reckon it's a pdf myself.. libreoffice will open them just fine.
