I was researching this firmware rpc1 and I have no idea what it would have to do with my pc.........I have no problem w/my HDFAB so why would all that come up trying to use anydvd? Can you possibly tell why this movie freezes after it reaches 60% but plays perfect in my dvd player? I hope you will be online tonight and will check this so I can get this settled tonight because I'm ready to pull my hair out lol I just don't understand why that prompt came up....is there another program I can use w/my dvdshrink and imgburn........I don't know if I should uninstall anydvd or what.......I have a couple of other movies I need to do so I think I will close the program for now til I hear from you............Thank You
I think the problem is it keeps saying "E: drive is not ready....I don't use that drive and there's no way to change it........I right clicked and went to the help and it says to disable if I have other software and the fox would turn gray........which I did and which it did and I tried the movie again but it keeps say E: drive I know by now you are ready to pull your hair out but I've never used anydvd and if I don't ask questions I can't fix it.....there has to be someway to change the drive.......please don't give up on me
I re-cleaned the dvd and it finally worked on my dvdfab (Yeah But I still would like my questions answered in my previous replies to you Thanks Again
First let me say that I'm glad that you got the movie done!! I think that you should try to rip it again with AnyDVD just so you can see how it works. I'm going to try to answer your questions now and I believe that the first one had to do with firmware. As far as firmware goes, you should not need to worry about that. Now on the other hand I have a drive that is very old, and I was having a problem with it reading movies so I had to update the firmware. Rpc1.com is a nice place to find updated firmware and if you ever need to update the firmware for you drive, then there are several steps to follow. I could walk you through them, but to be honest, as cheap as a DVD drive is these days in some cases it is better just to buy a new one!! However, if we were talking about a Blue Ray drive then it would be a different story. Just for notation purposes so that you understand a little better, firmware on a drive is an update to the drive itself and has nothing to do with your computer. I won't give up on you, I'm well aware of people being new to something. I do have to admit that I'm not 100% sure of when and where you are having this issue. Is it when you place the disk in the drive, or when you are trying to rip from the drive? This answer is the best that I can come up with for now. I hope this will solve you problem. As far as changing the drive letter, or not having AnyDVD scan that drive you will need to open the program and... Well, I went ahead and made a picture for you to view. I think that is easier than trying to use tech lingo!! As you can see in the picture, just remove the check mark from the drive that you do not want AnyDVD to read from. Like I said before, I hope that solves the problem you were having. A couple of things to know for the future. DVDFab does keep up to date with different encryptions and is a great program to have. However, things have changed with DVDFab, and the free version will not be updated at the same time as the paid for version. This could cause you to have problems with other DVD's in the future. AnyDVD is in my opinion the best of the ripping programs available, however, they have changed in the fact that now you have to update your program every two years! That aspect of the purchase of the program kind of bites the bullet. So while you have the trial version of AnyDVD maybe weigh the options of purchasing AnyDVD every two years or just purchasing DVDFab. No decision has to be made right away, and it is 100% up to you on which direction that you select to go in. However, on the side of AnyDVD I will say that when it comes to BD encryption breaking they are by far the quickest. Here is an example that I can give you. I have over 5,000 movies backed up! I'm a movie-a-holic!! In all the years that I have been backing up movies I can tell you that I went from originally using one click software that I purchased to using only free versions of software. However, I'm a perfectionist. I use to use DVD Shrink for everything, but I got to the point to where I was not satisfied with the backups. That is when I started using VobBlanker to help me remove unwanted material from the movie, but I still had things that I did not like!! To make a long story short!! I ended up purchasing AnyDVD because of how powerful the program was, and at the time DVDFab could not handle everything in a timely manner. Then because I was not 100% satisfied with VobBlaner, I purchased DVDRe-Make Pro which allowed me to make changes to menu's. So now my process is three fold, but it didn't stop there! I still wasn't happy with the quality of the burns so I purchased DVD-RB to encode instead of transcode the movies! So what that leaves me with at this time is a four step process!! In other words, by the time my movie is finished not only is it perfect in every aspect, it also took me around 2 hours to finish it!! A lot of work wouldn't you say!! Granted that a little over an hour of that time is run DVD-RB! Needless to say, I have a lot of experience with different programs when it comes to ripping, cleaning, and having a perfect copy of the original. However, most people don't care to hear about it, they just want the quick and easy way to make a backup! Let me know if the information helped or if you need me to go into a little more detail on something.
I did purchase my dvdfab, but I could never get my registration to accept and I kept e-mailing them and they keep telling me to do the same thing over and over and over again to make it work and to no avail it didn't but they included the free version for me....but my money was wasted..........I did click on select drive and it only showed the E: and I unclicked and still couldn't find a D: or anything else......maybe the trial version isn't giving me those options.........I have 21 days to figure it out, but I doubt if I ever will
Hey syxgun Where were you when i was learning..Great refresher.. and I learn a new trick too.. Ps want to walk me through imgburn..lol B2R
TRY: RipIt4me Method !!! 1-Click Mode > Main Movie > Next Note: 1.-Clear < > signs from the movie name at Target directory for DVD files window, since most programs do not red signs like < > or [ ] or change your Target, Name, etc. 2.-After Rip; 2 windows will open...first answer is NO and second answer is YES . 3.-On Shrink compress from 6,115MB to around 4,300MB using Re-Autor to back up on DVD 5. Good Luck and Happy Burn !!!
Hi, I didn't know ripit4me was still around because I use to use it a long time ago......please give me the link......before hdfab came out I always used ripit4me, dvdshrink, imgburn.........but I love my hdfab and I finally did get it to work after I re-cleaned the movie again........thanks for the info
LOL! Good to hear from you b2r! You know my e-mail address, you could always drop me a line from time to time! Mumzee, RipIt4Me Installation Link You will of course have to have FixVTS, DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink for it to work, but you should already be familiar with that. RI4Me has not been updated in a long time, but since you are doing movie only, the backup files of RI4M should have it if for some reason it does fail. Of course then you would need to use the program VobBlanker to ensure that the DVD Structure is correct before you burn. I rarely use RI4Me but in a few cases I have had to use it. Let me ask you a question about your drive D. Is D and external drive that you have hooked up to your computer? If this is the case then you may need to reinstall it to see if that will work. The other possibility is that the firmware will need to be updated on the drive. I can walk you through the firmware update if the first suggestion does not work. Let me know!
No I have not installed any drives....I have a Dell windows vista and it's only a year old..........I think I will stick with my hdfab, dvdshrink and imgburn because it only fails when something new comes out and then I just install the update.........but thank you for all the info and help........the only thing with hdfab is I purchased it about 4 months ago and my registration key still won't work so my money went down the drain......thanks again I started a new thread saying I couldn't get to this thread but I restarted my pc and the problem is solved.........
Mumzee, The question I asked was, "Is D and external drive that you have hooked up to your computer?" because that would help me narrow down the reason for the problem. Another question that I have is do you have DVD43 installed on your machine? These two programs will conflict with each other, so I would suggest that you remove DVD43 if you have it installed. Another thing to try is cleaning your registry. There is a free program that works fantastic called CCleaner. Before you run it make a backup of your registry with ERUNT first. This way you do not need to do it with CCleaner when it asks you if you would like to. You may download CCleaner from here: Link I'm still working on getting AnyDVD to work for you properly, but if you have decided to stay with DVDFab then let me know and I will stop the, Fix what's wrong with AnyDVD routine!!
All I know is whatever drive that came with my pc is what I've got and I have not installed any.........I uninstalled the anydvd for now because it kept going to E: drive........I checked under the drives in my pc and I have OS (C, RECOVER (D, DVDRW Drive (E, and then Removable Disks (F (G, (H and (I.......this sounds like a dumb question but even though they're on my pc am I suppose to install any of them to make them work like my (E? Check back later
Your D drive is a recovery partition on your hard drive. The only DVDRW Drive is E. Why would AnyDVD try to read from the D drive? I'm a little confused about your original question now!
Your confused, I stay confused LOL Lets try this question, what drive does the HDFAB use? If it's E: then I don't understand why anydvd didn't work..........
mumzee, Maybe when you went into AnyDVD to the area where you select which drives to use, you turned off drive E. Try to turn it back on then shut down AnyDVD and then start it again. Hopefully that will fix the problem. I'll post the same pic I posted earlier in this thread for you to understand.
