I tried to install ubuntu on my laptop but for some reason when I boot my pc up on the live disc the program will run super slow and then freeze. I tried running it on my home desktop and it ran fine. I even tried to format my hard drive on my laptop and it still freezes when I tried to install it as my OS.
That's nothing like enough for ubuntu. It probably won't even install unless you enable swap before starting. http://cutecomputer.wordpress.com/2006/07/18/ubuntu-606-installation-on-legacy-pc-low-ram/ Try one of the smaller distros.. tiny-me sounds good (but is too heavy for a 300mhz machine with 90mb ram, as discovered today.. they system monitor hogs all the cpu time), and puppy4 is superb.
