Hey guys, I just got a modded Xbox a week or so ago. Life was good, EvolutionX was working fine, I uploaded XBMC to it and everything was working perfectly. Then, I was trying to FTP over a movie and couldn't figure out why it was going so slow...well, turns out my Xbox HD was out of room. (I know I could stream it, but my PC is a jet engine, so trying to avoid that was the purpose of all this.) So I pulled a 100 gig HD (Maxtor 6L100P0 See Compatibility here) I was using in another computer and followed a tutorial for creating an ISO boot disk to be used in my PC. After much headache finding out my mobo wouldn't work (Asus probs) I borrowed a friends PC and made some headway. I went through the motions to create a new HD, but for some reason the program would always freeze when trying to build the E drive (I waited like 45 minutes before killing the process.) Ok...I'll just clone the HD then. I knew this was going to take forever, but it completed successfully. So I go to pop my fresh drive into the Xbox, error code 05. Crap, gotta unlock it. I find out that this HD is not capable of locking. Son of a....&!^$. Ok, I'll just put the original drive back in, error code 05. Seriously! So I hooked it back up to the PC, but the PC can't even see the drive now. Did I brick it by cloning it? I have the eeprom and everything to build a new drive, but I really don't want to spend the cash to do so at the moment. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on my nightmare? Thanks!
Looks like you gave up before you were done with the process. Boot your xboxhdm cd select lock using linux type "lockhd" then "lockhd -a" Your hdd will lock successfully and then you can turn off your pc and throw the hdd in the xbox. You must have missed the step where you have to relock the hdd. The hdd has to be locked so the stock xbox bios will boot the hard drive.
No bro, I did that and the program told me the drive doesn't have security enabled on the drive. I'll try it again and report back with the results. I'm considering trying another locking program like Config Magic.
