I need advice on which to use for capturing video from my camcorder, editing and making nice menus and burning to dvd. Has one any advantages over the other? thanks for any help
I wasn't impressed with Ulead software quality for video capture at all. Compared to Pinnacle Studio the quality was crap.
If Captureing from a DV Camcorder in it"s Native DV Format then it doesn"t matter what Program you use as there wouldn"t be any quality Differance no matter what program you used... Why?? Because DV Capture is a Direct Transfer of Data from the Camcorders DV Tape to your Hard Drive without any Data Loss(Unless you Drop frames).... For Makeing DVD"s I would say that "Ulead DVD Movie Factory" is probably the Better Program but "Ulead Video Studio" has better editing features.... Cheers
Correct about the capture. But on the quality of the rendering, there is a big difference in the quality of the software from Ulead and that of Pinnacle. I presume most people having captured from a device, then wish to transpose it onto DVD for play back and storage. Ulead is obviously acceptable quality or no one would ever use it, but it is way behind Pinnacle when viewing results side by side.
Well Most editors Ulead and Pinnacle Included have awefull Mpeg-2 encodeing...I have never Found the Quality of the Mpeg-2 files/DVD"s Created By Pinnacle Studio 9 to be Of High Quality ,Well actually the Quality is OK But you have to use the Much higher Bitrate than if you were to use a Professinal Quality Encoder pluss Neither Ulead Nor Pinnacle have the Settings in the Encoders to Optimize the Encodieng based on the Type of Video that is being encoded... I allways Found it better quality wize to render the projects as a Low Compression AVI file and then use a Good Standalone Encoder Like Canopus Procoder or CCE SP to encode the AVI file to Mpeg-2 and then author the Mpeg-2 file to DVD..... Some of the Higher end editors have better encoders in them Like Vegas Video and Premier Pro but on the Consumer level I would use any of there encoders........ Cheers
