I recently Bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ATA-100 Hard Drive at www.tigerdirect.com . When I installed I turned PC on. Did some Configurations, and through in an windows xp operating disc.Goes into a screen saying boot failure. So I ask a friend why it does not work.
He tells me that ultra ATA-100 does not work in a SATA mobo.
Can anyone help me with that problem,
Or can anyone tell me a few mobos that are ultra ATA-100 compatible.

yes tho i didn't have to do that with mine as i use win98se on a p4 2.5ghz celeron, 512meg ddr & 160gig hd. when loading xp on a customer's computer that has a floppy drive, i use a win98 bootdisk to fdisk & format the hd before loading xp.

reboot the computer with the xp cd in rom drive & when it says "press any button to boot from rom disk" press enter & follow it's instructions. 1 part will ask to put in new password & if don't need 1 than don't.
