Hi, Hope somebody can help, as the subject title says,i'm finding it impossible to burn with any burning software at present. When opening nero 6 i get the following message : 'HARDWARE ACCELERATION IS DEACTIVATED. SOME CAPTURE DEVICES MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY. YOU CAN ACTIVATE HARDWARE ACCELERATION USING THE DIRECT X DIAGNOSTICS TOOL'. don't know if this is the problem. Also when checking the Nero toolkit, i get the following message ; 16 BIT MS-DOS SUBSYSTEM. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM 32\cmd.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANTEC\S32 EVNT1.DLL INITIALIZATION. It then prompts me to close the application. Just as a note, i used to be able to burn with no problem, i can't understand whats gone wrong. It's doing my head in !!
are you able to get a log file at any point which you can produce in your next post, also have you considered turning your symantec products off just to see if they are interfering with the burn
sounds like your system is bad..... try rebooting and see if your computer resets itself. you could have a virus.... what else doesn't work????
Skyryder, tried to burn using nero 6 again this is the logfile it produced ; 1A23-0071-2052-4492-0266-5494 Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.57 (1008), size=48128 bytes, created 23/12/1997 02:23:24 ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 17/06/2003 15:25:04 Nero version: 6.0.0.19 (Nero Express) Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-3520A> Version: 1.04 - HA 2 TA 1 - 6.0.0.19 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 2 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 1 Drive is autodetected - recorder class: Std. Ihoe, to answer your qestion, no i have no viruse, everything else works and a re-boot did nothing. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
first take out your Nero Serial #....... it starts with 1A...... you can find the edit button to your reply where you posted your log on the top right of your reply! the icon looks like a pen on paper..... edit out your serial #! your firmware is 1.04........ and if you check for new firmware at The Firmware Page you'll see that for your drive 3.07 is available, found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2005 you have the oldest version of Nero.... and it's not even the best version of Nero 6........Version 6 isn't supported by Nero anymore since version 8 came out! Version 8 is a little buggy..... I would upgrade to verion 7.10.1.0............ save your serial # and uninstall Nero.... then install Nero 7.10.1.0: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/ you have the minimum of RAM..... it would be nice to have more ..... do not multi task, or go on the internet..... even shut down some unnecessary programs running in the back ground.... even shut down your virus protection while burning! burning too slow is just as bad as burning too fast! Burn at half the rated speed of the disk.... 4x-8x should be good..... if Nero only shows you 2x burning speed for an 8x or 16x disk then Nero and your drive is not recognizing your media! You should be able to burn your disks at 4x-8x! otherwise get better media! Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim! and make sure you update your firmware for your drive! seeeeeeee ... DOESN'T LIKE DISK! this is a Roxio/Sonic file that interferes with Nero burning! Uninstall Roxio/Sonic programs and do a registry clean with CCleaner and defrag and reboot! try ALL these suggestions and I'm sure you'll be ok! good luck!
Ihoe, thanks. I followed your instructions and it burned perfectly. You are a genius, i really appreciate all your help, thanks again.
@jumpinjax......... thank you for thinking I'm a genius, but truth be known I am far from it! I am just giving back what I received from AfterDawn! PayItFoward...... what you get you give back. And in the future try to do the same..... this is what makes Afterdawn great! Welcome to Afterdawn! And I'm glad my suggestions worked out for you!
i wouldnt say that ihoe you've been around as long as me and i think your a genius although gwendolin may have something to say about that.(since she's the queen of nero log files) @ jumpinjax: sorry for getting back so late , work beckoned and you know...........anyway ihoe sorted ya.......... i would suggest that you did update your ram to about a gig or even double that if possible.512 is acceptable in most cases but no one ever tells you how much is enough. But i am ......
