    Hi,

Hope someone can help with this.

I've got a LG GGW-H20L drive and am using Verbatim BD-R printables. Whenever I try to burn a BD-R disc the program will sit there saying writing to disc in the bottom left corner and nothing at all appears in the progress bars. After about 4-5 minutes I get 'Logical unit not ready, operation in progress' and 'Could not perform start of Disc-at-once' errors - i've included the log below.

The discs are from a pack of ten blank BD-R discs and the first disc I did worked fine (this was about a month ago) but I've now got three coasters because of this error. The Verbatim BD-RE disc that came with the drive burns fine.

The drive has the latest firmware installed (YL03) and i'm using the latest version of Nero (8.3.2.1). I've also tried uninstalling Nero with the CleanTool and then re-installing but still get the same error.

Anyone got any ideas about this?

    Thanks

the succesful write a month ago was it the bd-re disc?

on a quick scan of the log all seems ok, was the succesful write before the update on firmware and update of nero to v8.3.2.1 ?

what was the size of the project you were burning?

    as above are identicle?

were you not finalizing the disc either?

    Thanks for the reply.

The successful burn a month ago was with one of the BD-R discs from the same pack as the ones i'm getting the problems with.

I only upgraded the firmware and version of Nero after getting a couple of coasters yesterday to see if it solved the problem.

I've even put the drive into another pc to see if that solved the problem but got the same result. I've included the log from this burn below.

Not sure why it was set to not finalize before but it was this time and the size of the project this time was 23,084,178 KB with Nero reporting the disc could hold 23,098 KB

Think I might try buying another blank BD-R just in case these are faulty - seems strange that the first one worked ok though.

    hmmm

so the good burn was before updates on firmware and nero...

    ok

latest nero isnt a 100% from what im reading here on ad this could be an issue now aswell as the firmware maybe? as before on a good burn it could just of been the setting like not finalizing. as a month ago was ok, and now you may have changed something slightly getting a bad burn hence you think update firmware and nero.

do you have your older nero still? if so try it but use the nero uninstall tool from nero website first!
    -----------------

how big was the last good burn as this is very close to outer edge of disc!

Last possible write address on media: 11826175 (2628:02.25, 23097MB)
Last address to be written: 11542815 (2565:04.15, 22544MB)

    make your project smaller!

According to Nero the total data to be written for the disc that did work was 23,615,274 KB (23,063 MB)

Will have a look for the older version of Nero now

it seems nero is screwing up
    bd-re gives u 22.5gb
    bd-r gives u 23.6gb

    reboot it
pop the bd-r disc in and open the nero
somewhow either nero think u have bd-re disc or bd-r disc with less
    gb/mb/kb
once u open the nero refresh it

    nothing wrong with lg drive
(maybe the firmware yl03 and nero is n't working togetrher

Tried going back to the earlier version of Nero but still have the same problem.

Nero recognises it as a BD-R disc in the drive and lists the available size as 23,098 KB. Tried refreshing and ejecting and re-inserting the disc but it still says the same.

I've also just installed Cyberlink Power2Go (which came bundeled with the drive) and then ImgBurn and they both fail when trying to burn as well.

Think i'm leaning toward it being a problem with either the discs or the drive.

could try an uninstall / reboot from within device manager

does seem dam wierd that first bd-r burned ok next not?

what is the project exactly? copy of a copy?

It's a SATA drive. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it but it hasn't made a difference.

The project's just a load of xvid files that i'm burning from the hard drive to disc. The disc that burnt ok was a load of xvid's as well.

Agreed it is very strange that the first one worked and the rest haven't. Going to buy another BD-R disc in the week and if that still doesn't work i'll see if I can return the drive for a replacement. Out of ideas of what else to try.

Just wish these discs didn't cost so much. I've got about £50 worth of coasters lying around!

Thanks for all the help. Will let you know how I get on.

    Hi there,

Just thought i'd give an update on this.

Ended up sending the drive back for a replacement and the new one they sent out works fine. I've even updated it to the same firmware as the old one and it still works.

Looks like there must have been some kind of fault with the original one.

Thanks again for all the help.
