When I burn a movie to my computer and then I try to put it on a dvd I have just started getting this error message: Media not found Please insert a writeable media Require free space estimation: 3.66 GB Coninue button or a cancel button I have burned alot of movies but I just started getting this error message. The only thing I can think of is that I updated Windows media player and that is when I started getting this error message, this may or may not have anything to do with it. The 1 click dvd copy did it's deal and then the copy to dvd se clicks in and that is when I get that error message. Have any clue what I can do, not to keep getting this message, when there is a blank disc in the burner? I re-installed both programs and it did not make any difference. I still get the same error message. I went to add and remove programs and I removed the update to windows media player and that did not make any difference. I don't know if windows media player wrote something to the registery and that was not removed when I removed the program. When I try to make a 2nd copy of a movie it will not even make a copy, I get the same error message and the continue button will not even work when I try and burn the 2nd copy. I have burned alot of movies with this program and this very dissappointing that this program will not work now. I do have windows 98SE. I have been thinking about having my computer reformatted with windows XP. I don't know if that will work either, but I do believe that it had to do with the update from windows media player. We put the same program on my son's computer and he also updated windows media player and he also has the same problem. This is very strange, two computers in the same household with the same problem but it happened on both computers after we updated windows media player. Any suggestions? I really don't know what to do since it worked perfectly before we updated windows media player! I wrote to 1click dvd customer service and they told me to re-install both programs and that didn't make any difference. This is what I have on my computer. 1click dvd copy 4.2 copy to dvd se windows 98SE Benq burner any dvd
I tried to burn another movie and the copy to dvd se acted like it was going to burn it but it just sat there at 1 hour. I clicked cancel and that didn't work either I had to control-alt-delete and it said copy to dvd was at 13% and was not responding. This time I did not get that other error message. Now, what do I do? The program will not work! I have wasted so many discs on trying to burn a dvd.
The guy at the computer shop told me that when you upgrade windows media player it has bugs, so you can not burn movies because the sales of movies is down 38%, he seen it on the news. He recommends reformatting your computer and donot update windows media player!
The only thing I can think of is the latest DRM patch that can be downloaded and applied. I have deliberately left this off my PC. Chances are you should be able to remove wmp and then edit the registry to delete any references to it before trying it again. If however MS have done a similar thing as Sony did with DRM, then you'll be stuck with it on the machine unless someone can point to you to a removable tool or try this. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/readme.aspx#Rollback Easiest way would be to re-format and re-install operating system, if you do go for an upgrade to XP etc... then make sure it is via a full install not upgrade.
P.S. As for the latest version of media player stopping you burning. That's crap! I have the latest version loaded, but have just left of the latest DRM patch. I have no problem burning movies at all. As a freebee try out, just try using shrink and see if that works
BigDK, The EU made MS remove MP from the OS. Monopolistic and such... Please, what do you mean by "...but have just left of the latest DRM patch."? Why would control oriented MS give you the choice? Why would any user want to add DRM to their system if given the choice? Do you mean the others got this patch in a bundled update (like a service pack) and you can download the media player update ala cart without the patch you refer to? Do you know the exact name of the "DRM" patch as it appears on MS/support/download? Thanks. The OP is using windows 98SE (which may be his problem or not) but for 2K or XP users, if there is a separate DRM patch that they can avoid or remove, I'd like to share it with some members on cdfreaks. I just don't trust MS anymore. I'm still trouble free with 2K SP3. No DRM! I haven't been to the MS download site in a year. I get the Norton and Lavasoft updates for security. ...just don't trust Redmond... Thanks, Whisperer
I can't remember the name of the update, but it referred to drm material in windows media player. The trouble is I selected 'never show this update again' so if I look to see what it was called I can no longer see it. I'm not sure how they listed it 'critical or optional' but I never use the express option, so I can see what is being installed. I'll have another look on a different machine when I get a chance and see if it shows up one of them.
I am not talking "Pro Microsoft" or anything, BUT, I have all Updates including the DRM one for Media Player 10. It's a Digital Rights Management Update. It does [bold] not [/bold] interfere with backing up anything at all. I don't see a reason why it would. Of course, I have AnyDVD which makes my source disc region free. Maybe this is whay it does not afftect me. Don't know. I do know the update CAN be removed though. Try it & see. Use Crap Cleaner to scrub the registry after removal.
Hi, By chance did you change your brand of media recently? is your firmware up to date? This seems to be more of a firmware or media issue not wmp related. As a tip I suggest using verbatims or sony (sony need to be made in Japan, not Taiwan) blank media found in most local retailers. Also taiyo yuden is highly regarded as top notch media brand for dvds and can be ordered online . Just to clarify was not trying to step on anyones' toes but I'm willing to bet on my theory regarding his issue.
