Can someone please help me. I am unable to burn on 2 different drives.
    1 is Sony DRU-500A
2 is HP 1040i (I loaded Lite On firmware to try to fix the problem)

I have tried different media and also different ribbon cable(swapped with my HDD)and still it doesn't get past the Writing Lead In stage and I don't see the buffer filling up.

Here is the IMGburn output file using my DRU-500A, I get the same result with my other drive.
I have tried changing the transfer mode to PIO mode and still nothing. Any help will be very much appreciated.

It would appear that your very old drive cannot correctly read this 16x media.

I've pretty much written that one off, which is why I picked up the HP 1040i.

Update your firmware to LL0D and try burning at 8x.
