Hi all, I have looked around for a solution to this for a while but havent had any luck. I have downloaded a Hi-Def file but i have been unable to get it to play, a guide on here (and various other sites) say VLC should do it but it isnt for me. Im not too hot when it comes to codecs, splitters, filters etc but i know i dont want a codec pack, i normally just find which codec i need then get that one but I have only managed to find out which codec an AVI file is using not TS. I have tried various codecs and players etc (eg. Haali, Zoom Player, VLC Player, WM Player, GOM Player, ffdshow, DScaler 5) with no luck and have been uninstalling them after failure but im still worried this could be a conflict issue, i have a prog called dxman which tells you which codecs you have installed and you can enable/disable/uninstall but im not sure which ones i need so have left it alone but can show you what it says i have if you need it. Oh and apologies if ive posted in the wrong place. Thanks. Darren. UPDATE: I just tried rendering the file with gSpot, it worked, it said to use ffdshow for audio and video. So i uninstalled all the codecs I had been messing with and reinstalled ffdshow, now it doesnt play... and it doesnt render...
Isn't .TS an mpeg2 'Start' 'All programs' 'FFDSHOW' 'Video Decoder Configuration, check that MPEG isn't disabled.
yes i believe it is an mpeg2 i did as you said i had 2 options to set for mpeg1 and mpeg2 in ffdshow (libavcodec and libmpeg2) i tried them both but no luck. UPDATE: I managed to get video working, I installed Haali Splitter and WMP11, had no audio so installed AC3Filter, I now have audio but it goes out of sync. Is AC3 the wrong filter to use?
'Mediainfo' should be able to tell you what streams are present. AC3 is common and AC3 Filter would be required for playback. http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en 'VideoRedo' can open, edit and re-sync mpeg - transport stream files. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vrd_config.cfm

I don't see the video listed, but there's nothing unusual about the audio. VLC should be playing it ok - but you could try Media Player Classic - it doesn't install any extra codecs. Failing that, then try Video Redo, it has a 'Tools' tab where you can elect to repair a transport stream (QuickStream Fix).
Yeah I thought that was odd too! Theres definatly video in the file because it plays! I have to admit im a bit reluctant to try video redo as I dont think the file is at fault, ive had it working before but have rebuilt since then. I should add that VLC and Media Player Classic dont play this file (Classic plays sound but no video) the only player to play it is WMP11.
