Hello there, I am new everyone so please bear with me.

I am trying to backup some movies that I have to DVD. I bought a pack of 50 DVD+Rs at bestbuy, they are Ritek-03 code I believe.

I've been using DVD shrink to rip them onto my hard drive, and DVD Decrypter to burn them onto disc. My burner is a nec 3520+, it is brand new and was bought only last week.

The discs successfully play in 2 different standalone DVD palyers, which is great. However, I can't play them back on my pc. I've tried to play them back on my Aopen 16x DVD drive, unsucessfully. Windows recognizes the disc as a dvd movie and opens Cyberlink Power-DVD, at which point I only get the media to open, with sound but no video.

What am I doing wrong? The discs themselves seem fine.

    hi

try right clicking on the video window and look at the sound links, you may have 5.1 on or 2.1 sound etc...

I removed all audio streeams besides the main 5.1 dolby digital.

When I right click and go to audio languages, English 1 is selected. It's not the most modern version of powerdvd I don't think.

Yes, the originals play successfully in powerDVD. Forgot to mention that in my OP I guess.

I'll download and install the codecs then report back.

    hi

ok try it but its a stab in the dark, could be that it played the 2.1 on original? and needs something for 5.1?

    hi

just a thought aswell but do you use a 5.1 sound card? with many jack plugs on the card? try pluging the lead to another slot from the speakers?

Then my guess is it's a codec issue

try FFDshow and Xvid, both are available on this site.
