Uncompatible program when trying to burn DVD

Hello, I am totally new at this. I downloaded some movies from limewire which I can see and hear on my computer when I open the file, but when I go to save it on a DVD I get a message that says "uncompatible program file" or something like that. What am I doing wrong?

 

You are going to have to give us a little more info, what format are the files you downloaded?

 

Hello there, try using dvd shrink with nero

 

The files you downloaded are probably AVI format. What program do you try to burn them with? Befor you burn them, you have to convert them into DVD format. If you have Nero, you can use Nero Vision 4(nero 7) or Nero Vision Express(Nero 6). You can also use Winavi, DivXToDVD. DVD Shrink will not work with avi files.

They are avi formats, and I have Nero express 6 but can't figure out how to get to that Nero vision express thing. I looked at the other thread regarding avi to DVD format conversion but it only shows how to do it if you have Nero 7. I don't think its the same on Nero express 6.

 

The formats should be pretty much the same for Nero 7 and 6. Here is a basic guide using NVE from Nero 6.
