    Greetings,

I recently acquired a Uniwell laptop, model #257SA1. It had no power cord, so after purchasing one, I commenced with start-up.

It gets as far as telling me it has Pen4, and then gives me this information:
    SiS900 PXE BootRom v1.09 Hook Int19
    Client Mac Addr : 00 03 0D 14 EB C& Guid: 4489C01B-D1F5-D811-BF88-0D3F87CA9BD7
PXE-E51: No DHCP or proxyDHCP offers were received.
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

The sticker on the bottom states XP Home Edition.

Any help in getting this up and running would be very kind.

    John

Sounds like if your missing a Hard Drive. Or don't have an OS installed. If you do have a HDD installed with the Windows XP HE, then try this.

I am somewhat of a novice (if you couldn't tell). How do I check to see if the HD is missing?

If it is not, would you suggest purchasing an OS (like XP) and try loading it at start-up?

Thanks for your fast reply, btw.

Check your "BIOS" it's Usually a F1 - F7, F9 - F12 you have to press one of these keys when you turn on your laptop. Search for it there but don't move any settings. I am sorry I don't know much about Uniwill computers. You can try this LINK. It depends, about how much did you pay for this laptop? Windows XP HE can run up to 200.00$USD which is for me a lot of money. I think first you should try other methods. Unwill might provide some type of recovery disc or OS re-installation discs. So if your laptop cost around 500$USD or less than I suggest don't buy it. Let me dig around and see if there is another way to help you.

HP - thanks for helping so far! You are great!

Well, I've tried using a Toshiba Recovery disc, and it seems to be working, then I get a "Wrong Machine" message and A\: prompt

Additionally, once it runs through the message from my first post, any key pressed just repeats the message again.

I found XP home on NewEgg for under $90.00. Let me know if you find any other help. I'm also still looking...
