It says it's 'XviD'. If WMP won't play it, maybe the codec isn't installed on the PC. Down-load 'VLC' (has self contained codecs) and try playing it with that. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Well I appreciate that and I do have a codec pack and a number of media players, but its obvious to me now that this is just one bad old torrent file- I reckon its currupt. Thanks again for yr response
Possible it has time expired DRM? If it's broken/corrupt vlc will usually try to fix it. think you should try some of the free video remastering tools that are knocking about before giving up on it.. guide here http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/fix_broken_avi_page1.html
having a codec pack installed doesnt mean much at all! as mentioned try VLC its free, it will let you know if its playable and if your "codecs pack" isnt working...
