I've been reading many of the posts on this site as well as other sites on the net. I hardly ever see the same unlock codes given for the Nokia 6102---they are always different. Also, posters are providing their IMEI number, which I don't understand. Is the IMEI number necessary when determing the unlock code? I am planning on going to a cingular store and purchasing the Nokia 6102, and then unlocking it, so that I can use it with my ATT service. It would be great if I had the unlock code before I buy the phone---perhaps the store would let me try to unlock the phone while I'm there. Not possible for you to have an unlock code without the IMEI first. It's the heart of the code and that's why you notice all codes are different because all IMEI's are different. They are like fingerprints, none are alike. When getting your new 6102, it should have the new IMEI that starts with 358 instead of the 357 but either way, it will take the entire 15 digits to generate the code for you. You can always delete your IMEI if you would like to but here and on my site and the other 2 sites I unlock at, there would be no need to worry about this number. Nothing can be done with it. If something could be done, I and many others would have access to millions of them. Good luck with your purchase.
Thanks for the insight into the IMEI info. I hate to bother you with another question, but can you perhaps tell me how you use the IMEI number to come up with the unlock code---is there a computer program that does this for you, when you enter the info. Can anyone (like myself) generate an unlock code? Just trying to understand how this works. Ken
Yes, there are computer programs that does this for you but without knowing the correct settings for different models, it wouldn't generate the correct code for you and you would end up hardlocking the phone. If you wish, you can bring the phone to me and your IMEI will be deleted promptly if you wish and you will be unlocked.
