    Model:: NOKIA 6670 b
    IMEI:: 356204000143113
Canada - Fido (originally Microcell but now Rogers)

My first phone with Fido wasn't locked but got the 6670 when it came out and it is locked. Tried a couple of codes from the web but no luck. Receive "code error."

Put SIM back in and decided this forum was my only hope.

    Cheers!

    Too bad.
You only get three tries with this phone and you need to use two codes to unlock it by code.
Find a local shop with the equipment to do it.

    Two codes?!! ARGH!

Thanks Joe. I talked to one shop who said they can do it. I can't get to your site because its blocked at work, but I'll check it out.

Question, the shop said I needed the new t-Mobile SIM for them to be able to do it. Is that a legalities thing? Doesn't unlocking mean, take the SIM out (no SIM at all) and unlocking the phone so any SIM can go into it? Why would they need the SIM of the company I'm switching to?

Your help is appreciated a LOT! Thanks. I'm learning.

I have no idea why they would need a new SIM.
    I will check on this.

What are the codes just for shits and giggles because I've always put the SIM back in and run my phone for a few hours before ever trying another code. I've only ever had "Code Error" and never "Restricted" or anything like that.

Let me try some codes from your vault of knowledge. You seem to know what you're doing. And while I'm asking, does it need the same code twice or two different codes?

I can find no reason why your guy would need another SIM.
If he uses the hardware and computer, he should not need a SIM.
It may be that he thinks he can use a code.
No harm can be done if he tries but I believe you will still beed a hardware solution.

    OK Bob,
Here is how it works with this model.
There are two possible settings we can use for Fido depending on the age of the phone.
I give you the two codes and ask you to try the first and if that one gives a message “Restrictions off” you use the second.
If you get “Code Error” , you STOP and I give you two more codes.
That takes care of the three tries you have if you don’t make a mistake.
You can practice entering the code but just don’t enter the last #.
It will “time out” in about two seconds.
During the process the phone may shut of and re-start.
Give it time and let it do its thing.
BTW this only applies to Canadian phones. Go figure!!
My guess is it will need the settings for the older phone based on your IMEI.
We do not know the exact change over IMEI No.
If the first code works, we’re on the right track.
You might get lucky because I’ve heard that on occasion, if the third try is correct, you may get a “bonus” forth try.
Copy the code in large letters on a sheet of paper.

    So, here we go!!

    [bold] #pw+008743326607564+2# [/bold]

If the first works, press on.

    [bold] #pw+206005325400422+5# [/bold]

Your code:Try this ONCE and ONCE only. Remember,
you only get 3 to 5 tries.
[bold]If you enter the same code two times[/bold],
    that is [bold]two tries.[/bold]
    To enter code:
    Make sure battery is charged.
    Remove SIM first.
    Power on.
    Ignore “Insert SIM”
    Press the # key.
then press the "star" key (*) quickly to get the P and W and +
    Press * 3 times quickly for (p) \
Press * 4 times quickly for (w) IMPORTANT
    Press * 2 times quickly for (+) /
and the rest of the code---
Begin with # and end with #.

    IMPORTANT!!
Verify code before pressing the last #.
Pay attention. You only have about two seconds.

    "Phone restrictions off", it's unlocked.
"Error code" wrong code. STOP tell me.
"Not allowed" or "Can Not Undo Restriction" it's hard locked.
Used up all your free tries!!

If it does not work, tell me: What happened? What message
you got. What codes you tried.
    Above all, answer.

    you're genius!

I got absolutely nothing this time with the first code which means it entered properly. No "Code Error" showed up this time and it's definitely not "Restricted"

So, do I enter the first number again now?

    [edit]
I entered the first number again and got no response again other than "Insert SIM card"

No message whatsoever which is better than I was getting before with Code Error.

    [edit]
I screwed up. I was supposed to try the second one I think now that I reread your post.

    You enter both codes.
If the first code was accepted, tou enter the second.
    #2 and #5.

    well, its progress....
I got no response either time. Just "Insert SIM" card.
So, the codes are right and it's not saying "Restricted" either. Hmmmm....
    crazy.

but I think I can try as many times as I want as long as I reset the error counter by actually running the phone on the SIM again. It's a theory or I might actually need to take it in somewhere. Does that mean hard-wiring it?

Thanks for your patience with me.

Only a cable hardware method will work now.
It will still work on the old Network.
    You cannot reset the phone.
Entering more codes will do no harm but will not unlock it.
    Sorry.
