First off, this forum is awesome.
I have a softmodded XBox with xbmc as the dash. I decided to upgrade the harddrive to 250gb. I followed many of the guides to the T using xboxhdm. The only thing I didn't do, was change out my dash back to Unleash X.
When I booted up the drive in the Xbox, I couldn't perform the softmod to boot unleash x, because it wasn't there.

I tried to redo the formatting of the drive and erased the fatx.
So basically I've got a blank drive that is locking.

Now when I go into the xboxhd tool and choose option 1, I get the error saying that the drive is unlocked but has locking enabled. I know I have to format it to be permanently unlocked, but not sure how to. The best option for me would be to do this in DOS (I have the eeprom from the old drive). I know it would be easier using the Linux Unlocking tool, but for some reason the monitor I have won't display it. It only displays the text menus.

    Thanks in advance.

Right, but not all displays/video cards are supported, even in basic text Linux. Do you know how to unlock a drive and have it stay unlocked in DOS?
