thanx it restored my settings, but the reason i wanted to do that was to see if it restores my network, u see yesterday i tried to use another sim on it from a diff network (optus) and ever since my vodafone sim hasn't worked :( it shows network coverage n stuff but it wont let me call, recieve calls, send or recieve msgs, basically network dont work, its not the simcard cuz i tried it in other fones , n it still works, what do u think happened?

You probably fried your sim by trying too many wrong security codes. Try a new Vodafone sim in the phone.

What is the use of PIN ?

The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a security feature of your SIM card. It is given when you connect to a network. Activating your PIN can prevent your mobile phone number from being used if it is lost or stolen. If you wish to activate your PIN or change it you can do so by using the security feature on your phone.

    What is PUK?

PUK is Personal Unblocking Code. It is required when a security PIN has been entered incorrectly three times. Entering an incorrect PUK three times can permanently block the SIM Card in your phone.

What did you do with the phone before the SIM went bad?
If you were playing with codes it could fry the SIM that is why we say remove Sim when possible.
I do not know what is wrong, if anything, with your phone. I can only suggest you try it. I have never heard of phones just frying SIMs.
    Sorry.
