Good Day everyone! I know it may sound silly, but I found my old phone and charged it, surprisingly it works.... but ... It came from T-Mobile USA years ago and I'm trying to use a SIM Card from T-Mobile and getting: Phone Restricted Enter restriction code: So dilemma is: it's a T-Mobile phone and a T-Mobile SIM card ,, still getting this error... Just tried and it didn't work. Even tried it 2 more times to the same result: At this step: "Fourth, Let go off the buttons, when you see the Nokia hand shake, then the screen will display a message saying to remove the network lock, then press OK, which is the middle button." --- I never get a chance to see the Nokia hand shake, then the screen will display a message saying to remove the network lock. It is asking to insert the SIM Card everytime, as if I just press the Power button only. And once I do insert the SIM Card and power the phone On, first thing shows up on the screen: "Phone Restricted" and there's an "UNDO". Once I select UNDO, next thing I see: Enter restriction code: and the box to enter the code in. Thank You for suggestion, though. I wish it was that simple.
Well, they don't make it simple because they want to protect the owner. I think you can understand that. Do another search on the forum and you'll find all kinds of ideas. If you find something that works, you might post it here.
Sure, of course I'll post an update on my journey to get this resolved. I did spent hours and days researching bunch of different forums on this subject. Most of the productive ones are where the person with the right tools/software would answer the question based on the provided IMEI. I don't have such tools, not even original cable anymore unfortunately. Otherwise I'd dig out the process of unlocking it myself as I've done many times with other phones I owned. I did contacted T-Mobile yesterday and asked them for help. They were able to confirm that this phone was used on my account and provided 2 PUK unlock codes (based on my IMEI), but neither worked.
I wonder why there were two PUK codes. If T-mobile can't figure it out, I don't know who can. Was your contact local?
The 2 PUK codes were specifically related to my IMEI number in the T-Mobile System. The T-Mobile rep I was speaking to, did mention she was in Atlanta, GA, which is where I am as well. So at the very least she's in the same time zone as me. She did escalated to the Tech Support dept, who went way beyond their standard procedure to assist me and offered to try several different codes to enter, that did not work. At the end, the Tech Support guy submitted a request to provide me a Carrier Unlock Code, which will take several days to get to my email. I can only hope it will solve my problem. We'll see. I'll post an update once I receive the email with instructions.
OK, finally! Just got an email from T-Mobile Care with the following: Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your Nokia device. NOTE: If you receive an error message while performing the instructions below, stop. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. Verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and submit a new request. Please be sure to also include the city and state of purchase and what carrier's logo is displayed on the bottom of the faceplate. Also, there ae steps to enter specific things and a 15-digit code. I did all steps and it worked! SIM Restriction OFF is the message I saw on the screen. Now I just need to test the SIM card in that phone and I should be good to go!
