I unlocked my Samsung A177 using www.unlockology.com. They have a whole section with how to unlock instructions for blackberry, motorola, htc, samsung and others. The guys at unlockology were very helpful. They have a live chat button.

You have to make sure your phone is not hard-locked. This sometimes happens when you enter the unlock code too many times. If this is the case you will need an unfreeze code for the Samsung.

I shopped around and did not find anyone giving away unlock codes for free? I felt I received good value for money having unlocked my mobile phone with unlockology.com.
