I bought my gf and xbox from Gamestop. (I suspect it was previously modded due to an xbl account on it, and an innability to add accounts or access account info)<-just in case knowing that can help figure out the problem She played it for about 4 or 5 months and everything was fine. Then I go to her house and turn it on, and it makes a sound like the laser in the dvd drive is screwed up, It was making the noise it makes when the head is moving up and down, and then it goes to a numberless error screen. So I figured there was a problem with the dvd drive, so I swap my dvd drive out with hers to see if that fixes the problem, but it doesn't. So I then open it up and turn it on to find out where the noise was coming from. It turned out it was coming from her HDD, it is spinning kinda fast and sounds almost like it's scraping on something. Have any of you heard of this before? If so, is there any possible way to fix it without replacing parts?
