Hi, I bought a DELL 9300 with Sony DVD+-RW DW-D56A as an optical drive. I have Nero 6.6 intalled and I can burn CD's with no problem. I tried burning a DVD for the first time and after choosing the file, the program gets busy; 3 to 4 seconds in to the burning, it stops and gives me "unspecified target error" and end the burning! What is wrong, I tried it with other programs and none of the other programs and burn a DVD either. Is it the blanck DVD that is not compatible?!I use Verbatim DVD +R Thanx
let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

I recieved the same error, using Nero 6.6. i updated the firmware as well, directed to by SONY VAIO Update... but i still get this 'unspecified target error.'
@Payam33 - - Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.18, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php - firmware's up to date - http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html#DW-D56A - see next comment - i don't know what dtscsi.sys is, but it would appear to be corrupt or not loaded properly (the question marks) ps yuo mentioned burning cd's fine, dvd burners have 2 lasers, one for DVD and one for CD
