Hi all! Everytime i load up nero startsmart it puts a shortcut on to my desk top foe an online upgrade! how do i stop this from happening? thanks triop out...
I don't believe I've ever seen this happen??? What version of nero do you have? Is this a copy you own and where did you get the software?
Thanks for your reply I am using nero oem version 6.6.0.18 this only started happening after i upgraded online I have found in the properties of this shortcut the following: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\specialoffer.exe" Do you think it would be ok to delete this exe? thanks triops
That file could be the culprit. You don't have to delete to disable it, just simply rename the file to "specialoffer.exc". You'll be asked to confirm the action just click yes, reboot the PC and run nero to see if all is ok. I'm surprised that nero would do this?? Worst case you uninstall nero 6.6.0.18 using the nero general cleantool found here: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html After the uninstall is complete, you can install the same version 6.6.0.18 by downloading the file from any of the links provided, when the installation is complete just enter your serial number and you should be ok. http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe
That is giving you an upgrade site to link to if you want to upgrade from limited oem to full version. You may not need to upgrade. That being put there seems to mean there is a process in startup linking to that exe to make the link if it is not there. You can run msconfig go to startup tab and remove (disable) the process that is pointing to that exe.
