No the chip is not the problem, its the code in the software stored on the chip that cannot be cracked and the combination of the code sent to it every couple of seconds.
Let me get this right, you could clone the chip and the software on it, but the code on the decrypter (Box) cannot be hacked (yet). I think, you would need to wait and see.
