So here's the deal. I had Nero 6.6.0.3 Ultra Edition installed. I also had Nero Vision Express 3.1.X.X (I forget what version. Slightly old.) I updated NVE to the latest 3.1.0.25, thinking "hey sure, update" -- however after running the update the DVD+R media that I've been using successfully for the past few months is suddenly not recognizable. It wants DVD-R. I updated Nero6 to the latest 6.6.1.4 -- still doesn't like my DVD+R. I run the Nero cleaning tool. I install Nero 7.5.7 -- the latest/greatest stuff. Still doesn't like my DVD+R. I'm about to run the Nero cleaning tool again and reinstall 6.6.0.3 because at least it worked with my DVD+Rs... but I'd like to know if there's another solution I could try to make Nero play nice with my media? Maybe my drive needs a firmware update? I have a Sony DVD+-RW DW-Q58A installed in my Dell Inspiron E1505.
Uninstall your Nero, run BOTH cleaning tools Nero6 Clean Tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html Nero7 Clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then if you want Nero 6, install this version , both packages http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe Version 6.6.1.4 is a "buggy"
Almost immediately after posting this, I went and found the updated firmware for my drive here and Nero7 is now working beautifully. For reference, the firmware was available here.
