I'm looking for a DVD Writer that is firmware upgradable to DualLayer burning capabilities. So far I have only herd BenQ as officially offering this, but many peopleare "anti-Benq" for reason i donot know, I dont want t buy the benq if its not going to be as good as another. So... ... Does anyone know of another drive with the same firmware promiss that is not a BenQ?
The only other drive I have heard any hint of a firmware upgrade to dual layer is the Pioneer 106D. Pioneer showed one work which they claimed only had a firmware upgrade and burned dual layer media. However, later a story came out that the drive had hardware mods to it also. No one is sure at this time if it is possible or if it will actually work. The dual layer drives are now being offered by several companies, why not just go for one of them. Jerry
