Hey, I want to upgrade my graphics card for my old computer as it cant do many things, I dont want to upgrade this then find out i need this, this, and this for it to work, so would you be able to help me find a card that would work in my pc its specs are : (cr@p) Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 (build 2600) 733 megahertz Intel Pentium III 32 kilobyte primary memory cache 256 kilobyte secondary memory cache Board: Micro-Star Inc. MS-6309 1.0 Bus Clock: 133 megahertz BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 62710 05/20/99 192 Megabytes Installed Memory 19.98 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity 6.34 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space S3 Trio64V2 [Display adapter] Trident Video Accelerator Blade 3D [Display adapter] (not working for some reason) Liteon 13.5 [Monitor] (13.5"vis, December 1996) if you need any other info let me know and i will try and post
Your S3 Trio64V2 i think that is a PCI card, is it? The Trident Video Accelerator Blade 3D, did that loop through you S3 Trio card, you may as well pull that out.... You can get nVidia graphics cards in PCI, you could go for the FX range like a 256Mb FX5500 PCI? Has the board got an AGP slot?
Ok in the book it says: One AGP slot - AGP 66MHz 3.3v/1.5v for 2x/4x device support. I dont understand that?? And we dont want to spend to much since its a old comp. ( We're doing it up as we go along.im saving up for a new hard drive as it needs it bad)
Ok its got an AGP slot, Pick up a cheap G-Force2 or somthing... or new FX5500 256Mb AGP cards are cheapish any way! Sorry... Usually you would have a cable that connects from your normal graphics card into an Accelerator card, then your monitor would plug into your Accelerator card to boost the graphics... is that what that is or was? Or was that the onboard graphics that does not work now....
Yeah, what happened was, that we got the blade 3d from a friend and was sure what to do so we put it in there, will have to have a look later and see wahts happening with it How much are the cards usually ?? Would it be cheaper off ebay.com.au???
Cool, thats a pretty good price Wouldnt mind gettin one like that (im off to bed now, will ask/answer more in the morning)
Yeah, bed, it was like 12:30 So what would you reccomend for my computer?? Also with the accelerator what does that do??
depends on what you intend to use the computer for & budget. the accelerator card is more for the older pci cards as they ran at 33mhz whereas an agp was 2 times plus that of pci cards so don't need accelerator cards.
Ohh well, we want it for, some programs, games, here and there. The budget is I think no more than $200 i think is that too low??? And ohh ok so thats what thats for, well if it has to be pluged into the video card than thats why it aint workin
check this link & is in canadian dollars but will give you an idea in what to get. http://www.pcvonline.com/products.aspx?cat=Video Cards&sub=AGP Video Cards&sub2=
Would this one be alright?? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VIDEO-CARD-A...ryZ70875QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Ohh ok, well we have 1 computer store, we will have to go see and just ask how much it is, if they can order it Is that too much?? (the ebay one) [edit] otherwise is it alright for this comp??
is $10 to $16 higher than what i can get but i don't know what the difference is between our dollars. should work i think as you say your board can do 2x/4x & this card is 4x/8x.
