i received my http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827101002 today "friday" and i've been trying to get it to read a normal music cd ('s) and it wont do anything, i hear the disk spinning and nothing happens, i also tried finding an upgrade for it but i wasnt successful, anybody have any idea on what i should do please let me know, thank you
What are you playing the CD in, and what OS are you using? Operating systems older than Windows XP require a physical link between the drive and the motherboard for CD audio (a small black and red cable). Also, try using a couple of players like Windows Media Player, Winamp and itunes. If these do play, try updating you're previous software. If they don't, then try another audio cd. If that doesn't play either, then you may need to replace the drive, preferably with a different brand if I had my way (because from a personal perspective I've had bad experiences with Benq). If it does play other CDs then you may just need to clean that CD.
its a regular music cd, i run win xp professional, and when ever i put in the cd nothing happens at all
anybody know where i can get the firmware upgrade for this bq60? because from this point its been of no use at all for me, cant burn, cant read, just sitting in my computer waisting space
Quoting some guy called [bold]Budz[/bold] I found on the web, he says: Thank you Sir Budz :^) Over to you bojan087...
thanx for that helpfull information, do you think that i should return this product and get one of those better bq brands or return this one and get a lg or one another better known brand for a little bit more money from newegg?
I like top-quality stuff - to me, that means Plextor (and NOT LG). I have also had good luck with NEC, Sony OEM (Lite-On), and Pioneer. These are all $49 bucks. Plextor costs more, they are The Best! Regards
could u point out exactly one that you specificly prefer, consider 80$ or less, im trying to download movies from net onto cd and hopefully get them to play on dvd player so i can watch it through television if anyway possible if not, than just software on the cd/dvd's/music/animation ect... thanx
The LG GSA-4167 is a superb cheap DVD Writer that'll do absolutely everything. Before you do that though, is the drive actually recognised in windows? I don't mean to sound patronising but it sounds like it may not even be attached properly. If it is, then it'll likely be faulty, at least it isn't doing what my drive did and activate the burning laser when I put a CD-ROM in the drive.
yes its recognized in windows, its under My Computer, and also when i went to click on Add Hardware, and clicked on the burner, it told me its working properly
first it was my cd rom that came with the computer, it didnt have anything, than i put a jumper plug or w/e u call those things on the master, and put the new burner on the slave mode, added the ide cable that was with the master one, so from hard drive to, new burner, and on the end to the old cd rom drive, and of course the power plug, i tired another set of ide cables and still nothing changed
set it as slave to the hd as had a somewhat similar problem between a dvd burner as master & cd burner as slave that the cd burner will eventually go offline & take the dvd burner. changed dvd burner to slave with the hd, set cdrom as master that was slave to hd & cd burner still as slave with no drop out yet.
so have the new burner as slave, and connect the new burner to the ide that the hard drive is on, and leave the old cd rom the same way it was before?
okay, i have the old cd rom drive all by its self, i have the burner/slave connected to the hd/ide cable, now the old cd rom doesnt read nor is it recognized in my computer, the new burner (Dis recognized and is able to read a disk but i have to open it under my computer, it wont run by its self
what is the old drive jumpered as in slave, master or cable select? do a properties on the dvd burner to see if autorun is enabled or not.
the old drive was in master, and it didnt show so i took the jumper out and it still doesnt show me anything under my computer, and what do u mean do a properties on the dvd burner?
